SHIELD magazine spring 2002

With the growing need for security in an all too dangerous world, America turns with growing frequency to the power of high-tech surveillance. Human data chip implants, bugging devices on computer keyboards, traffic cameras, the list of possibilities reads like a James Bond novel. But as cameras and scanners peer ever deeper into our lives and actions, some of our most fundamental American freedoms may fall in the process.

This issue of the Shield looks at one of the key challenges we will face in the emerging war against terrorism-- maintaining our Bill of Rights and the core freedoms that make this nation great.
