SHIELD magazine spring 2003

A cemetery scene sets the stage for one of 2004's biggest legislative battles. With the Clinton Gun and Magazine Ban nearly ten years old, it stands at the end of its life. Admitted by its very authors to be an experiment, this law was created with a "self-destruct timer." A proven failure after ten long years, it is time to let a bad law die as it was intended.

Sadly legislative failure is not a deterrent to dedicated gun-banners, who seek not only to extend this bill for another decade, but to expand its reach to include millions of additional firearms.

In this issue of the SHIELD, LEAA's Ted Deeds takes a hard look at the facts and peels away the gun-ban lies surrounding this flawed and ineffective legislation.
