Police Group Says Goodbye and Good Riddance to Rep. McKinney
Law Enforcement Alliance of America celebrates defeat of anti-cop Congresswoman
Springfield, VA - The Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA) celebrated the resounding defeat of Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) in Tuesdays Georgia Democrat primary run-off. LEAA Executive Director and retired police officer James J. Fotis stated, Congresswoman McKinney was no friend of law enforcement and her callous disregard for the Capitol Police Officers who put their lives on the line to protect her was a disgrace, we are happy to say goodbye and good riddance to Congresswoman McKinney.
Representative McKinney drew the ire of law enforcement after a scuffle with Capitol Police officers when she evaded the security screening at an entrance to the Capitol without the proper Congressional ID pin and then reportedly struck an officer who attempted to stop her and determine her identity. In a column for American Cop Magazine, LEAAs Fotis underscored the seriousness of this incident. In 1998, a crazed gunman ran past security and then proceeded to gun down two U.S. Capitol Police Officers, Jacob Chestnutt and John Gibson. Congresswoman McKinney should have put her ego in check and understood that the Capitol Police are there for her safety.
