Law Enforcement Alliance of America
Commends the President’s Recess Appointment of
Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor
to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals

Washington DC Law Enforcement Alliance of America Executive Director James J. Fotis, offered his praise for President’s Bush’ recess appointment of Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  Pryor had received the ABA “well qualified” rating and had served with distinction in his tenure as Attorney General for the State of Alabama.

A minority of Senate Democrats had sought to undermine the President’s nomination of Pryor by filibustering the nomination despite the bipartisan support for Mr. Pryor from his home state.  Catering to the wishes of liberal special interest groups, these Democratic Senators ignored the praise Mr. Pryor received from Alabama civil rights leaders and chose to focus on Mr. Pryor’s Catholic faith as an excuse that he could not impartially uphold the law.

Mr. Fotis added, “It is regretful that our President was forced to exercise his constitutional option of a recess appointment by a small minority of Senators who sought to placate liberal extremists and thwart an honest and open debate and vote on the floor of the U.S. Senate.”
